Doctors deny treatment to ‘dead’ girl at state hospital
A four-year-old girl is unable get treatment at a state hospital in the Bağcılar district of Istanbul, as its records show her as “dead,” Doğan News Agency reported on May 12.
A woman, Emine Keskin, reportedly took her daughter Yağmur to the Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital after she injured herself in a fall on May 11. However, she was told that the hospital had recorded the girl as “dead” when she was checked into the hospital on Aug. 28, 2015.
When hospital officials tried to create a new record for Yağmur, the system kept giving the same error: “No new record can be made as the patient checked out as dead.”
Following the incident, Keskin has appealed to officials to address the issue.
“We went the Bağcılar State Hospital for a physical examination. But she appeared as dead in hospital records … We told a doctor about this but he just said it was not his concern. I said we would file a complaint but no one has helped us yet,” she said.
“My child has been recorded as dead for the past two-and-a-half years. I want this to be fixed,” she added.
