Diyarbakır to see jobs hike

Some 5,000 new jobs will be created in the industrial zone of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
Some 5,000 new jobs will be created in 96 factories built on 188 hectares of newly allocated land in the organized industrial zone of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.“Some 217 companies have already obtained their area on the existing 532 hectares of the zone, and 155 production facilities are actively working, creating jobs for over 4,000 people. Around 180 companies have applied to build facilities in our organized industrial zone thanks to the peace process and newly adopted investment incentives,” said the head of the zone, Mehmet Özel. He said the infrastructural works of the newly allocated areas are to be finalized in the coming nine months. Then, around 96 factories will be built, creating 5,000 new jobs, which are of great importance for Diyarbakır, he said.
10,000 people to be employed in total
“A total of 10,000 people will be employed in our organized industrial zone,” he said.
Many investors have rushed to the region because of the peace process said the head of Diyarbakır Organized Industrial Businesspeople Association (DOSİAD), Aziz Özkılıç. “We couldn’t, however, meet the demand as there is not enough space to invest. But now we were able to allocate the required space to investors not only from Diyarbakır, but from other cities as well, by completing the infrastructure assignments of an additional 188 hectares of land allotted to the organized industrial zone,” Özkılıç said.
There is an additional 1,200 hectares of land, owned by the Treasury, next to the industrial zone, which is also slated to be a part of the zone in the future.
