Dexia to sell Turkey unit next month
ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
French-Belgian Dexia aims to complete the sale of Denizbank if the shareholders are satisfied with the bids, a top executive of the Turkish lender said yesterday. Dexia might decide to waive the tender if there were no appealing bids, he said.“We are planning to complete the sale of Denizbank in February. However, if the bids are not satisfying, we could decide not to sell the lender,” General Manager of Denizbank Hakan Ateş said to journalists at a meeting in Istanbul. “This is not my personal opinion on the issue but Dexia’s,” he added. The sale could be cancelled if bids fall short of the expectations of the lender’s shareholders.
The bank has also launched the first “Facebook banking” application, enabling 31 million Facebook users to access the bank’s online Internet banking system via their personal Facebook accounts.
