DEİK holds 481 events last year, visits 66 countries
DEİK’s Business Councils General Assembly was held on Oct. 18 with the participation of Miniser of Economy Nihat Zeybekci and the Regional Coordinating Presidents of the U.S., Middle East and the Gulf, Africa and Eurasia, with the Asia-Pacific, Europe, World Turkish Business Council and Sectoral Business Councils briefing delegates on current developments.
Speaking at the assembly, Minister Zeybekci evaluated the July 15 failed coup attempt and the following period, saying that Turkey needs economy policies to shape the world, not to keep pace with it. “The most precious passport in the region will be Turkey’s in the next 10 years,” he said. DEİK President Vardan reminded the July 15 coup attempt, which targeted democracy and the economy is fresh in the memories.
DEİK declared a mobilization after the coup attempt, outlining an 11-step urgent action plan, he said. DEİK successfully held 481 events in the past year, with 163 of them being abroad, bringing together Turkish and foreign business people in 66 countries.
