A 5.6 magnitude earthquake late Wednesday killed at least 19 people in eastern Turkey, a government agency said Friday.
Nineteen people, including a Japanese humanitarian worker, lost their lives in the quake, and 30 people were recovered alive from the rubble, according to the prime minister's disaster and emergency management centre.
The toll stood at 12 dead late Thursday.
Wednesday's quake occurred some 15 kilometres (nine miles) from Van province, according to the Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory.
It struck less than three weeks after a massive deadly quake in the same area.
