Dead Can Dance to perform in Harbiye
ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
The legendary Dead Can Dance, formed in Australia by Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry, relocated to London in May 1982 and disbanded in 1998. Their 1996 album “Spiritchaser” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top World Music Albums Chart. In order to concentrate on their solo careers and due to ongoing personal differences between Perry and Gerrard, the project was subsequently put on hiatus. In 2012 Dead Can Dance released their long-anticipated album “Live Happenings.” Australian music historian Ian McFarlane has described Dead Can Dance as having an ambient style of world music that “constructs soundscapes of mesmerizing grandeur and solemn beauty with African polyrhythms, Gaelic folk, Gregorian chants, Middle Eastern mantras, and art-rock.”
