Dance world to celebrate special day

Today is being celebrated as World Dance Day. The Ankara State Opera and Ballet (ADOB) will bring together amateurs of dance and professionals. ADOB artists and Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory Ballet Department students will share the stage for a dance performance.The event that will take place today at the Opera Sahnesi will present “The Dying Swan,” “Flames of Paris,” “The Wayward Daughter,” “Love’s Worth,” “La Bayadere,” “Business Man,” “Don Quixote” and “Giselle.”
ADOB head choreographer Elif Poyrazoğlu said that the interest of families and young people in dance had increased in the last 10 years, adding, “Private courses began giving ballet training for adults. People began getting into ballet to get rid of stress from business life or health problems.”
April 29, the birthday of French dancer and choreographer Jean Georges Noverre, who made contributions to dance, has been celebrated as World Dance Day all around the world since 1982.
