“Cyber security” is a priority for the government and the ministry is making efforts to provide security in cyberspace, Turkish Minister of Transport and Communication Binali Yıldırım told Anatolia news agency in an interview."Cyber security is a matter of national security and requires a high level of preventive measures," Yıldırım said, adding that the Transport and Communication Ministry is fighting for cyber security in order to take the necessary measures and to create public awareness on the issue.
Yıldırım announced the foundation of a cyber security council that will create a cyber security action and strategy plan at its first meeting this month.
"The second cyber security exercise will be held on January 10 and 11, 2013, by the Communication Technologies Authority [BTK] and the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey [TÜBİTAK]," Yıldırım said.
Yıldırım said the cyber security exercise would contribute to the testing and development of the resistance capabilities of the ministry against cyber attacks.
The cyber security exercise consists of the performance of several attack scenarios and testing the ministry's response capabilities against them.
