Customs officers find snakes, scorpions, tortoises in suitcase at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport
ISTANBUL – Doğan News Agency
Turkish customs officers on June 5 found nine different species of reptiles—including snakes, tortoises, lizards, frogs, and scorpions—in a suitcase at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport.
The suitcase was reported to belong to a Vietnamese passenger who had travelled to Russia via Istanbul.
When the passenger did not claim the luggage after landing at the Russian airport, the officials returned the suitcase back to the Istanbul Atatürk Airport.
Upon receiving the suitcase, Turkish customs officials x-ray scanned the luggage and found it contained nine different reptiles that were still alive. The officials then delivered the animals to the provincial directorate of agriculture and livestock.
