Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic has highlighted the significance of Turkey’s vital regional position in energy transmission lines.

“I cannot highlight enough Turkey’s vital position in energy transmission lines,” Kitarovic said, speaking at the opening panel of the 7th Atlantic Council Energy and Economic Summit in Istanbul.

Kitarovic also pointed to Croatia’s contributions to European energy security with its projects, reminding of the country’s key position between the Mediterranean and Central Europe.

“We contribute to the European energy security with projects such as the Ionian Adriatic Pipeline, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline and the LNG Terminal at Krk Island. These projects will increase connections in southeastern Europe, along with the south-north corridor,” she added.

Kitarovic also urged the international community to act together against terror, pledging that Croatia would pursue an assertive foreign policy during her presidency.

“We need to face the truth together 70 years after the World War II and see what this means. We need resolve and action. No one should think that the modern world will isolate itself from threats without taking action,” the Croatian president stated.
