Consumer confidence down

Turkey’s consumer confidence index decreased in June 2012 compared to one month earlier in May 2012.The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced yesterday that the index, which was 92.1 in May 2012 went down 0.4 percent to 91.8 in June 2012.
TÜİK’s monthly Consumer Tendency Survey was carried out with consumers’ assessments of the current economic situation and their expectations for personal financial standing and the general economic outlook as well as their expenditure tendencies for the near future.
The consumer confidence index can hold a value anywhere between 0 and 200.
When the index registers above 100 it indicates an optimistic outlook, whereas a value below 100 depicts a pessimistic outlook.
