Consumer code sent to Cabinet

A draft code on the protection of customers, focusing on a broad range of areas, has been sent to the Cabinet for signing, and is due to be presented to Parliament next week, Customs and Trade Minister Hayati Yazıcı said at a press meeting yesterday.According to the draft code, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) would determine the non-interest income items of the banks under the condition of obtaining the favorable opinion of the Ministry, said Yazıcı. The banks would be obligated to offer a card that would not require any charges, he added.
The contractor firms would have to have a construction license for selling houses from models within this code.
