Co-mayor of southeastern district, 10 suspects detained in anti-PKK raids

Turkish gendarmerie forces have detained a total of 11 people, including the co-mayor of the southeastern province of Mardin’s Mazıdağı district, in operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).Gendarmerie forces have launched operations as part of an investigation into the PKK conducted by the Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in the Mazıdağı and Nusaybin districts of Mardin, detaining a total of 11 people.
The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-mayor of the Mazdıdağı district, Ali Özkan, was among the five suspects detained in the raids in the district, while six other people were detained in Nusaybin’s Akarsu neighborhood.
The detained suspects were taken to the provincial gendarmerie command, where they were to give their testimonies.
After their testimonies at the gendarmerie, they will be sent to the prosecutor’s office, where they will be interrogated and if the prosecutor finds its necessary, sent to court with a demand for their arrest.
