Cité des Art hosts Oturmak for 2013

Young Turkish painter İhsan Oturmak has been selected for the residence program of Cité Internationale des Arts.Located in Paris, Cité Internationale des Arts gives 350 artists, whom it accommodates at the same time, the chance to stay at individually assigned workshops from two months to one year. With its exhibition halls, rehearsal studios, concert and performance venues, along with its various workshops, Cité des Arts gives the artists the opportunity to improve themselves and actively create.
İhsan Oturmak graduated from Diyarbakır Anatolian Fine Arts High School and studied at Marmara University Fine Arts Faculty. Since 2007 he has participated in several exhibitions in Diyarbakır, Istanbul and Ankara and won prizes for his works. Oturmak also participated in the first Istanbul Design Biennial. In 2012 Oturmak made his international debut in Paris with the exhibition “Journeys: Wanderings in Contemporary Turkey.” He will take part in the residence program between January and April 2013.
The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) coordinates the selection of Istanbul artists for invitation to the Cité des Arts residency program via an open call system and committee review. The İKSV-Cité des Arts residency program will continue until 2029. The residency program, which was developed by Çelenk Bafra and Banu Dicle from Simit Association, is set to continue until 2029 without any interruption.
Currently Ferhat Özgür is participating in a Cité des Arts residency that began September 2012 and will continue until January 2013.
