CHP names İzmir mayoral candidate

Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) announced its mayoral candidate for the Aegean province of İzmir in the early hours of Jan. 28.
Tunç Soyer is going to compete for the mayor position in the upcoming local elections slated for March 31, 2019.
As a CHP member, Soyer has served as mayor of İzmir's Seferihisar district.
Last month, CHP head Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had nominated Mansur Yavaş for mayor of the capital Ankara in the upcoming polls.
For the commercial capital Istanbul - a city almost one-fifth of Turkish citizens call home - the party named Ekrem İmamoğlu.
