Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputies stormed Parliament yesterday, claiming acting Parliament Speaker Mehmet Sağlam swore at Muharrem İnce, an opposition deputy.
A mob of opposition deputies raided the rostrum in the General Assembly and said they would not leave unless Sağlam resigns from his post.
Sadık Yakut, another acting speaker, closed Parliament’s session to diffuse the tension, although the CHP deputies said they would carry on after Sağlam in future sessions.
