Centuries-old bibles seized in Muğla

The historic leather bibles were delivered to the Fethiye Museum.

Six 1,600-year-old leather bibles have been seized in the western province of Muğla’s Köyceğiz district.

A suspect, who was allegedly attempting to sell the bibles when the gendarmerie made an operation, was sent to court and arrested while the six bibles were delivered to the Fethiye Museum.

The Provincial Gendarmerie Command was informed about the historic, handwritten bibles when the suspect B.S., 33, allegedly attempted to find a customer for the rare books. Following technical surveillance, the suspect was arrested on his way to the city center from the Beyobası area with the six bibles in his car.

The suspect said he found the books on the street and was on his way to deliver them to the Fethiye Museum Directorate.
