British orchestra to play with Fischer

German violinist Julia Fischer is recognized worldwide as an exceptionally gifted artist. She will take the stage with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.

One of the world’s most eminent chamber orchestras, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, will play at Levent’s İş Sanat Culture Center on Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. 

Since its foundation in 1958, the orchestra has adopted a principle of collaborating with privileged artists like German violinist Julia Fischer. Recognized worldwide for possessing a talent of uncommon ability and as an exceptionally gifted artist, Fischer won the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition at the age of 11. 

Fischer has received numerous awards and effusive reviews both for her live performances and recordings, including being named “Artist of the Year” at “The Gramophone Awards” in 2007 and “Instrumentalist of the Year” at the 2009 “MIDEM Classical Awards.” She was hailed for her performances of Brahms’ Double Concerto at her first Carnegie Hall concert with Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the leadership of Lorin Maazel. 

Besides Maazel, she has performed with many leading conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach, Yakov Kreizberg, Yuri Temirkanov, Sir Neville Marriner, David Zinman, Jun Maerkl, Ruben Gazarian and Marek Janowski. 

Fischer is frequently praised for her technical mastery and also lauded for her interpretations of the classical repertoire.
