Bomb-laden car seized in Turkey’s southeast

A bomb-laden car parked near a government office was found in the Hani district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır late March 17.Patrolling police units in the town spotted a suspicious car parked in front of a school about 50 meters away from the Hani government office, which was to host a commemoration ceremony for the 101th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli on March 18.
Bomb disposal experts were called onto the scene after the car was revealed to have bombs. Bomb disposal experts disposed a total of 150 kilograms of bomb materials inside three tubes placed in the car.
Meanwhile, the Diyarbakır Governor’s Office said in a statement that perpetrators were likely planning to detonate the bomb during the commemoration ceremony.
One suspect has been detained over the incident, the statement added.
