Beirut brings eclectic blend to Kuruçeşme
ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
Beirut, which has enjoyed massive popularity in recent years, is coming to Turkcell Kuruçeşme Arena on Sept. 21. The American indie folk band originally began as Zach Condon’s solo project but later expanded into a full-fledged band. The music is a mixture of indie, world, jazz, Balkan folk and classical music with French, Italian and Belgian influences. Condon recorded his first album, “Gulag Orkestar,” in his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and was soon signed to a record label. Infusing Balkan melodies with alternative rock, the band will be in Istanbul as part of their Rip Tide tour for their new album of the same name.
