Başakşehir and Konyaspor set for Europa League action

Two Turkish clubs will be on the pitch on Oct. 19 in the Europe League competition, with Konyaspor hosting Salzburg and Başakşehir traveling to Germany to play Hoffenheim.

Başakşehir and Hoffenheim are meeting for the first time, and neither has previously played a team from its opponent’s home country.

The Istanbul club is yet to win a UEFA away fixture, losing three of the six gmes it played.

Having posted its first European win on matchday two beating Vitoria 2-1, Konyaspor will try to keep the momentum going, though visiting Salzburg has been in good continental form.

The Austrian club is unbeaten in seven Europa League matches, winning five of them.

Also on Oct. 19, under-fire Everton will hope to kickstart its campaign when it plays host to Lyon looking for a first win in the Europa League group stage.

The Premier League side has just one point from its opening two matches in Group E, following up a comprehensive 3-0 loss to Atalanta in Italy by drawing 2-2 at home to the Apollon Limassol last month.

Ronald Koeman's men required a late Wayne Rooney penalty to draw at Brighton and Hove Albion on domestic duty at the weekend, and in the last two months their only wins have come against Sunderland in the League Cup and Bournemouth.

"We just need to get results and once we do that, the confidence will come back into the team and things will come a little bit easier for us," Gylfi Sigurdsson told the club's website.
