Azerbaijan snubs Turkey to host final

Azerbaijan Football Federation rejected a Turkish request to play the upcoming Super Cup final in Baku. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has sent a letter to its Azerbaijan counterpart, asking whether it could hold the latest installment of the Super Cup in Baku or not. However, Baku rejected the request, saying that there was not enough time to prepare, according to the daily Hürriyet. The Super Cup final between Turkish league champion Galatasaray and Turkish cup winner Fenerbahçe will be played on August 11.The finals between 2006 and 2008 were played in German cities, Frankfurt, Köln and Duisburg, marking the only times the final was played outside of Turkey. Prior to 2005, all finals were played in Ankara, the Turkish capital.
