Assassination plot against Erdoğan’s daughter declared fake

The story of an alleged assassination plot against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s daughter, which had been picked up by several Turkish dailies in February this year, has been declared a fabrication by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, daily Cumhuriyet reported on Aug 9.The indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Hüseyin Parlakkılıç in the case filed after the claim went public in February said Twitter messages between then Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy Umut Oran and journalist Emre Uslu, in which the assassination plot against President Erdoğan’s daughter Sümeyye Erdoğan had been cited, were totally fabricated in an endeavor to clumsily manufacture evidence, according to the report.
Turkish dailies Akşam, Güneş and Star claimed on Feb. 20 Erdoğan’s daughter Sümeyye Erdoğan would be subjected to an assassination plot shortly before the June 7 election, citing Twitter messages which were claimed to be sent by Uslu to Oran on Jan. 31.
