Aselsan profit doubles in first half

Aselsan has announced its net profit soared by 100 percent in the first half.

Aselsan, a leading Turkish defense systems producer, has increased its net profit by 100 percent in the first six months of this year compared to the same period last year, as the company’s orders rose to $9.4 billion.

According to Aselsan’s 2014 activity report, the company made a profit of 199 million Turkish Liras ($92 million) in the first half of the year.

Earlier this month, Aselsan climbed up on the list of the world’s top 100 defense giants, compiled by the prestigious United States weekly, Defense News.

Based on the 2013 figures, this year’s list ranks Aselsan 67th, compared to 74th last year.

Meanwhile, Aselsan’s 2013 defense revenue was slightly over $1 billion this year, compared with $862 million a year ago
