Arkeopera opens handicraft exhibition

“Forty patchwork purses” (Kırkyama Kırk Canta) is how artist Meral Tunca describes her naïve work, which revolts against the industrialized world’s consumer society that has forgotten traditional handicrafts.Tunca goes to the market and carefully chooses the patches that go into her creations as a rebellion against high-priced purses and accessories made from the skins of endangered animals. Tunca’s works, described as retro-art, are on display at Arkeopera until May 25.
