Argentinian player sustains bruise after fan attack in Ordu

Orduspor’s Argentinian ace Vicente Monje sustained a bruise in the head after the team bus was attacked with stones by their own fans.

The attack happened late on Nov. 19 following the team’s 2-1 Spor Toto Super League home defeat to local rivals Trabzonspor. There have been suggestions that the fans mistook the vehicle for Trabzon’s bus.

Orduspor spokesman Levent Yıldırım said Monje had spent the night at a hospital and was released yesterday.

“We learnt that they had Orduspor jerseys on, but we cannot know whether they are Ordu fans or not,” Yıldırım told Anatolia news agency. “There were 12,000 fans at the match and there was a very small group that conducted the attack. Not all Orduspor fans are to blame.”
