Arab music diva comes to Mardin

As part of the annual spring festivities of Artuklu University in the eastern province of Mardin, one of the leading figures in Arab music, renowned Lebanese singer Ghada Shbeir, will give a concert on June 2 at the Atatürk Culture Center in the city. Shbeir represents Lebanon, one of the most significant places in Arab music, in many festivals.

Many Arab ambassadors are also expected to come to the city for the concert. The Artuklu University rector, Professor Serdar Bedii Omay, said the concert would be very important for the promotion of Mardin.

Shbeir is a specialist in and professional performer of traditional Middle Eastern folk and Arabo-Andalusian songs as well as Syriac and ancient Maronite chants.
