Antalya sees 90 pct drop in Russian tourists

The Mediterranean resort of Antalya saw a drop of almost 90 percent in the number of Russian tourists in the first four months of the year from the same period in 2015, while the number of tourists visiting the resort by air decreased 30 percent in the mentioned period to 843,517, according to data from the Civilian Administration of the Antalya Airport.Antalya also saw a drop of some 30 percent in the number of German tourists in the January-April period of this year compared to the same period in 2015.
Russia, which was once the second largest tourist source for the resort, regressed to 13th on the list of the 23 largest tourist providers over this season.
While around 127,000 Russian tourists visited Antalya in the first four months of 2015, this figure decreased to around 12,000 this year. More than 94,000 Russian tourists visited the city in April 2015, but this figure declined 94 percent in the same period over this year, according to the data.
The data also showed that around 332,000 German tourists visited Antalya in the first four months of the year, a decline of 30 percent from the same period of 2015.
The number of tourists coming from the Netherlands declined 4 percent, from Britain 36 percent and from Belgium 36 percent in the first four months of the year compared to the same period of 2015.
However, Antalya saw a sharp increase in the number of Israeli tourists in the January-April period this year with a rise of around 73 percent compared to the same period of 2015. Around 28,000 Israeli tourists visited the resort this year.
The number of Iranian and Ukrainian tourists visiting Antalya also increased this year, showed the data.
The air traffic to the resort also contracted 37 percent.
