Ankara roads to be closed for AKP election meeting
ANKARA
The Ankara Police Department has announced that it will block some roads in the capital on April 15 because of the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) meeting in which the party’s parliamentary candidates, as well as its election manifesto, will be announced. It’s a very rare practice, as roads are usually not closed for such political party meetings, except for general conventions with the participation of thousands of party supporters.
The AKP’s election meeting will be held at the Arena Sports Complex near the city’s main train station. Roads going to the station and others nearby the venue will be blocked starting from midnight April 14 until the end of the event.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu will make his party’s 550 candidates public and will read the election manifesto during the meeting.
