Ankara Film Festival theme announced
ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
The 23rd Ankara International Film Festival, which will be held between March 15 and 22 by the World Mass Media Research Foundation, has announced this year’s festival theme to be “uniformity.”The festival chose the theme of uniformity because today’s world diminishes the dissimilarities of lives and minds in all areas.
Almost all people lock their focuses to the same goals and are imposed to certain lifestyles. Inevitably, the lack of diversity leads to complicated social issues.
To emphasize the similarities in their consumption patterns, the way they entertain and communicate with each other and how they create and relate to arts and culture, the festival aims to call on the audience to think about how we are invaded by uniformity and its impact on us.
The festival will be offering the best selection of films to festival goers this year.
This year there were 16 films were submitted to the National Feature Film Competition and nine films were chosen.
In the competition, the jury including Professor Sami Şekeroğlu, director Çiğdem Vitrinel, scriptwriter and writer Osman Şahin, director of photography Doğan Sarıgüzel and film critic Cüneyt Cebenoyan will evaluate the competing films in 16 categories for best film, best director, best actress, best actor, best script and best music.
