Ankara beats all in entrance to university

Ankara was the most successful city in the first phase of the national University Entrance Examination (YGS), according to the results announced by Turkey’s student selection authority today.The Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) made a statement announcing the results of the March 25 exam in nine days, “a record time.”
“Team spirit is the key to announcing the winners in record time,” ÖSYM head Ali Demir said in a statement.
A total of 1,805,125 students took the YGS first phase of the YGS and 61,036 students failed to score points in at least two of the four tests.
Overall, Ankara was the most successful city, followed by Karabük, Denizli, Aydın and Isparta. Zeynep Nur Karagöz from Ankara’s TED College High School, Hümeyra Çolak from Istanbul High School and Irmak Öziskender from Istanbul’s Kadıköy Anatolian High School topped the list, all three obtaining perfect scores of 500 in the test. Students who scored over 180 points are qualified to enter the decisive student placement exam, LYS, in June. There will be five different LYS exams, corresponding to different educational branches.
