Angela Hewitt to play in Istanbul
ISTANBUL
Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt will be performing at Istanbul’s Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s Seed on Feb. 12.The 58-year-old pianist will play for Turkish music-lovers as part of the “Istanbul Recitals” concert series.
Apart from Bach, Hewitt will be playing works by Schubert, Haydn and Beethoven at the concert.
Hewitt is best known for her cycle of Bach recordings that she began in 1994 and completed in 2005, covering all of Bach’s major piano works. Her discography also includes works by Couperin, Rameau, Messiaen, Chabrier, Ravel, Schumann, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy and Fauré.
Last year, Hewitt was awarded to the highest honor in her home country, receiving the Companion of the Order of Canada.
