Paintings and personal belongings by Şevket Dağ will be auctioned.

One of the leading names of Turkish painting, Şevket Dağ’s 40-piece collection will be auctioned on March 1. The collection belongs to another painter, Sırrı Eldem.

Dağ was a close friend and confrere of the Ottoman sultan Abdulhamid II and was known as a “Turkish Painter” abroad.

According to a written statement made by the Artı Mezat Art Gallery, Dağ’s oil paint interior, still life, landscape works and oil paint design works will be put up for sale in the auction at the gallery.
As well as his paintings, Dağ’s personal belongings will also be auctioned.

A book on Dağ’s life, which Eldem wrote in 1945 but was not published due to financial problems, will be sold as original with its right of publication.

It is expected that the objects such as palettes, brushes and color sets, which the artist used while working, will also draw interest in the auction.
