Woman murdered on first hours of Women's Day in Turkey

An Azerbaijani woman was allegedly shot to death by her Turkish husband's cousin in Istanbul's Pendik district in the first hours of March 8 Women's Day. 
 
Forty-year-old Azerbaijani Diyar B. reportedly had an ongoing divorce case with her husband and was staying with her husband's cousin Ö.B. and her two children.
 
Diyar B. had an argument with Ö.B. yesterday night and left her children with Ö.B. to stay in a medical center located in the same neighborhood. Diyar B. told employees there that she had nowhere to go and asked if she could spend the night at the facility. Employees allowed her to come in and sit in the waiting room.
 
After learning from his relatives that Diyar B. was at the medical center, Ö.B. also went to the facility, where he allegedly began shooting her with his unlicensed pistol at around 2 a.m. 
 
Diyar B., who was hit four times, managed to hide in a restroom as Ö.B. fled the scene. 
 
Personnel at the medical center carried out first aid on the injured woman and called an ambulance. Paramedics promptly arrived at the scene and attended to Diyar B.'s wounds but were unable to save her. Her body was taken to Pendik Training and Research Hospital's morgue. 
 
Ö.B. was apprehended by police and taken to Pendik police station where he reportedly said he killed Diyar B. because she "defamed" him.
