'Window Seat’ by Defne Tesal
Defne Tesal’s first solo exhibition, “Cam Kenarı” (Window Seat) consists of images sewn onto the fabric using cotton and wool threads. Inspired by images of the road, she depicts fields, forests, cities, seas, and roads capturing moments of sorrow, peace, chaos, stagnation and moving sights. Bold colors overlap one another creating abstract landscapes that reflect the quiet passing of time. Born in 1985, Tesal graduated from the Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts, where she studied Stage Scenery and Costume Design. She generally works with embroidery, painting, film and stop motion animation.
