SİİRT – Doğan News Agency
One village guard was killed and another two were seriously wounded on July 20 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attack in the Şirvan district of the southeastern province of Siirt.

PKK militants remotely detonated an explosive device placed in a culvert while the village guards were conducting controls in the culvert after villagers informed them of the explosive.

Temporary village guard Emin Akyıldız immediately died at the scene while village guards Ramazan Beyazgül and İzzettin Kalkan were seriously wounded in the attack.

The two wounded village guards were transferred to Siirt State hospital, as a number of armed vehicles were deployed to the scene.

Security forces conducted a wide-scale operation to apprehend the PKK militants responsible for the attack.
