Vehicles cost public sector 2 billion liras

Vehicles allocated to the public sector in 2012 totaled 2 billion Turkish Liras in expenses, including car rentals, auto maintenance and fuel, according to budget data from the Finance Ministry.

The Finance Ministry’s Directorate General of Budget and Fiscal Control submitted information regarding expenses relating to an official car to Parliament on Jan. 30, revealing the public bodies’ vehicular expenses in scope of Central Administration Budget in 2012.
 
Around 90,000 official cars

The car rental cost 134.16 million liras, the auto maintenance expenses cost 131.19 million liras, land vehicles purchasing cost 234.75 million liras and fuel expenses totaled 1.49 billion liras. The total expenses reached around 2 billion liras.

The official car numbers allocated to public bodies were 90.024 by June 2012, with 36 percent of them belonging to the Security General Directorate, 15 percent to the National Defense Ministry, 8 percent to the Gendarme General Directorate, 7 percent to the Health Ministry and the rest to others.
