‘Vav’ sold for 425,000 liras

Turkish painter Erol Akyavaş’s masterpiece 1984 “Vav,” one of the paintings from the artist’s record-breaking series reflecting Islamic philosophical thought, was sold for 425,000 TurkishLiras at the 19th Beyaz Auction on May 29.
The auction put a total of 190 art works up for sale, including the works of 105 of the most prominent foreign and Turkish contemporary artists, according to a written statement. Works in the sale were displayed at the Sofa Hotel between May 24 and 28.
Taner Ceylan’s “Nirvana,” known as one of his masterpieces, sold for 250,000 liras while Neşe Erdok’s masterpiece “Adahan Hotel” sold for 200,000 liras and Nedim Günsur’s “Rıhtım Street” went for 325,000 liras in the auction.
