US Chamber of Commerce to open Istanbul office to boost ties

ISTANBUL

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has decided to open an off Istanbul office in a bid to boost trade and investments between the Turkey and the United States.

The USCC Regional Office – Istanbul, a result of joint efforts between the U.S. body and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), will open on Nov. 18.

Turkish Development Minister Cevdet Yılmaz, U.S. Consul General to Istanbul Chuck Hunter, USCC Deputy Chair Myron Brilliant and Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Chairman Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu will all attend the ceremony.

TOBB said in a statement that the office will contribute to efforts by the 40-member U.S.-Turkey Business Council, working on opportunities to develop private sectors in both countries.

The two chambers will renew a 2012 cooperation protocol during the ceremony, the TOBB added.
