Two Turks appointed for OSCE missions

Turkey is a member of the OSCE since 1975, when it was formed as a standing conference, and has actively supported its development.

Two Turks have been appointed to key positions at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Switzerland, the term president of the organization, has appointed OSCE permanent representative Tacan İldem to the position of Coordinator of Conflict Cycle, according to a statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry yesterday. The rotating presidency also assigned Prof. Dr. Talip Küçükcan as the “special representative for the fight against discrimination and intolerance to Muslims,” the statement added. The statement also stressed that Turkey makes active contributions to efforts toward building a security community in the OSCE region and coordinating the organization’s activities.

“In the framework of our determined approach in the struggle against discrimination and intolerance toward Muslims and longstanding disputes, particularly in Nagorno-Karabakh, we welcome the appointments in question,” the statement said.
