Two Turkish soldiers were killed and five were wounded on Feb. 4 during “Operation Olive Branch” in Syria’s Afrin, the military said in a statement.

The Turkish General Staff said the casualties occurred during clashes with the People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Eight Turkish soldiers were killed on Feb. 3 during “Operation Olive Branch,” according to a Turkish General Staff statement, marking the deadliest day yet for the Turkish army since the operation into the northwestern Syrian district began on Jan. 20.

Turkey on Jan. 20 launched a massive military operation against the YPG in Afrin and vowed that it will expand it to the Manbij area of Syria where YPG troops are located along with U.S. forces.
