Two soldiers killed in PKK attacks in Turkey’s east

One soldier was killed and another two were wounded on June 27 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attack in the eastern province of Bitlis, the General Staff has announced.

PKK militants detonated a hand-made explosive placed in a rural area of Bitlis during security forces operations.

One soldier was killed and two were wounded in the attack, the General Staff said in a statement issued on its website.

Meanwhile, one soldier was killed and another was wounded in a separate PKK attack targeting a military post region in the Dağlıca district of the eastern province of Hakkari late on June 26.

Infantry Specialized Sgt. Mehmet Aslangiray was killed in the attack while another soldier was wounded.
