Two policemen heavily wounded in PKK attack on police shuttle

Two police officers have been heavily wounded in an attack by outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants on a police shuttle carrying six officers in eastern Turkey, daily Hürriyet’s website has reported.PKK militants staged the attack at around 11 p.m. on Aug. 27 in Turkey’s eastern province of Iğdır, close to Taşburun village on the country’s border with Nakhchivan.
The police shuttle was caught in crossfire as a group of PKK militants staged an armed attack.
Clashes erupted as special operations teams escorting the shuttle responded to the militants.
Meanwhile, the wounded officers were taken to Iğdır State Hospital for treatment.
