Turkish warplanes bomb PKK bases in northern Iraq - military sources

Between four and six aircraft carried out the operation after PKK terrorists were spotted on Iraqi soil, Turkish military sources told Reuters.  

The sources told the agency the ground forces began shelling PKK bases near the Turkish border late on Saturday and that the firing was continuing.

It was the latest of a series of Turkish air operations against the PKK terrorists, who use northern Iraq as a base for launching attacks in Turkey. 

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Ankara and much of the international community, including the EU and the United States.
