Four PKK militants ‘neutralized’ in Turkey’s Hakkari

At least four outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were “neutralized” during counter-terror operations in the southeastern province of Hakkari early on April 26, according to local security sources.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized” in their statements to imply that the militants in question were either killed or captured.

The wide-scale operation launched on April 25 remains ongoing in the region, said the sources who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.

In the Nusaybin district of the southeastern province of Mardin, three PKK militants surrendered to security forces, according to a statement by the local governor’s office.

The unarmed militants turned themselves in near the Syrian border on April 20-21, the statement added.

Soldier killed in PKK attack

Meanwhile, one Turkish soldier was killed and four others were injured in a PKK attack in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, officials said on April 25.

The Diyarbakır Governor’s Office said in a statement that the military engaged in a clash with the PKK militants during an operation against the PKK near the village of Akçabudak in the Lice district.

The wounded soldiers were taken to hospital by helicopter, said the statement.
