ANKARA - Anadolu Agency
Turkish physics professor Demir İnan has won the Energy Globe Award, a prominent sector prize, for creating a solar-powered water pumping system in Ankara.İnan, president of the Clean Energy Foundation in Ankara, created the solar-powered water pumping system for houses in the province’s village of Süleymanlı.
The Energy Globe Award, founded in 1999 in Austria, recognizes regional, national and global projects that conserve energy resources and use renewable or emission-free sources.
According to a statement from the Austrian Embassy Commercial Section, İnan received the National Energy Globe Award 2014 for his project that aims to use solar panels for various household and irrigation needs. The statement said that using solar energy for water pumping saves money and is suitable for countries such as Turkey.
The project uses no fossil fuel or any other type of non-renewable fuel, allowing it to support clean energy generation.
