Turkish satellite Göktürk launched into space

Turkey’s first Earth observation satellite, Göktürk-2 was launched today in China as Turkish leaders watched the launch on a live broadcast at a ceremony held in the capital of Ankara.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was among the officials participating in the ceremony, held to mark the launch of the country’s first domestic, high-resolution, observation satellite at the Space Technologies Research Institute of the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
Göktürk-2 was tested in France and weighs 450 kilograms.
All computer software and the computer for the satellite were fully manufactured in Turkey.
