Turkish presidential spokesman İbrahim Kalın slammed on March 11 a newspaper column by two former U.S. ambassadors to Turkey criticizing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
"Two former U.S. ambassadors, who suppose themselves to be 'colonial masters’, wrote: 'Erdoğan should resign.' The days when you gave instructions to Turkey are over, gentlemen," Kalın said on his official Twitter account following publication of the column, "Turkey’s Erdogan must reform or resign," in The Washington Post.
"If Erdoğan still wants to deliver a brighter future for his country, he has to reform or resign," said former ambassadors Morton Abramowitz and Eric Edelman in the guest op-ed.
