Turkish PM's wife Emine Erdoğan attends education project night

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s wife, Emine Erdoğan, said on Feb. 28 the significance of schools in eastern and southeastern provinces should not be underestimated, even though society does not see them.

“[Just] because society does not see [them], the importance of schools in the eastern and southeastern provinces does not decrease,” Emine Erdoğan said in a speech during a night organized for the project, titled “My country is like no other,” which was co-organized by the Education Ministry and Turkish Businesswomen Association (TİKAD) with the support of the Family and Social Policies Ministry. The project aims to improve the physical needs of schools in eastern and southeastern provinces.

“If those schools did not exist, thousands of students would lack education,” she said, adding that the needs of these schools are more than one can imagine. Praising the campaign for the schools, Erdoğan said that one cannot distance themselves from these problems by becoming indifferent to them.

“We are all living under the same sky on the same land and marching to the same future,” she said, adding that terrorism and migration affect every part of the country.

“It is time to struggle against the problems, not complain,” she added.

Erdoğan delivered a plaque to the contributors of the project.
