Turkish PM set to attend counterterrorism summit

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu will attend a counterterrorism summit hosted by U.S. President Barack Obama in New York on Sept. 29 on the sidelines a general assembly meeting marking the 70th anniversary of the United Nations.

Davutoğlu will send letters to world leaders before the summit, where he will call on other nations to shoulder part of the responsibility for Syrian refugees.

The prime minister will embark for New York on late Sept. 24 with some ministers, the Anadolu Agency quoted anonymous Prime Ministry sources as saying.

The prime minister will also have a bilateral meeting with U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and will deliver a speech at the general assembly.

Davutoğlu will mark Eid al-Adha with representatives of citizens living the U.S.  He will also meet with American CEOs at a meeting organized by Turkey’s Union of Chambers and Commodities Exchanges (TOBB) and the U.S chamber of commerce.
